Graduation is a special moment for any student, but for 211 students  from Dadaab camp and  in north-eastern Kenya and other parts of the country i.e Nairobi,Machakos, it was a dream come true. They completed their diplomas from Cambridge College, a prestigious institution in the UK, through a distant learning program sponsored by Help Dadaab and Awet, two charities that work to empower refugees through education.

The graduates, who studied courses such as business administration, social work, and computer science, received their diplomas in a physical ceremony  on january, 2024. They were joined by their families, friends, mentors, and representatives from Help Dadaab and Awet

The distant learning program, which started in 2023, was designed to provide access to quality higher education for refugees and locals  who face many barriers and challenges in pursuing their academic goals. The program also aimed to equip the graduates with skills and knowledge that would enable them to contribute to their communities and society.

The graduates expressed their gratitude and joy for the opportunity to study at Cambridge College. They also shared their aspirations and plans for the future. Some of them hope to continue their studies at the master’s level, while others plan to start their own businesses or work for NGOs and charities  All of them are determined to use their education to make a positive difference in the world.

Help Dadaab and Awet congratulated the graduates and praised their hard work and resilience. They also thanked Cambridge College for its partnership and support. They said they hope to continue the online learning program and expand it to more refugees in Dadaab and other camps.

The graduation day was a celebration of the achievements of the graduates, as well as a testament to the power of education to transform lives.
